This function was held on April 07, 2013 at Vihara Maha Devi Pirivena, Elpitiya in Galle District. 20 used wheelchairs, 14 walkers, 3 toilet seats and some medical equipment were donated to OSDASA by "Wheelchairs for Sri Lanka", a volunteer group, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (website: http://dh-web.org/wc4sl/).
A team of medical staff from the blood banks of Elpitiya and Karapitiya hospitals participated. In the event, 32 people donated blood.
Seevali Nayaka Thero of Vihara Maha Devi Pirivena, Elpitiya, Navadagala Sobhitha, Nayaka Thero of Bodhirajarama, Elpitiya, Mrs. Sudharma Karunaratne, permanent secretary of ministry of plantation, Divisional Secretary (A.G.A.) of Elpitiya, Mr. Amila Kariyawasam, chairman of Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha, and Dr. Nandasiri, acting director of Elpitiya hospital, Dr. Dedunu of the blood bank of Elpitiya hospital, Dr. Suresh of Elpitiya hospital, and the medical officer of the Indipalegoda Ayurvedic hospital attended the function.
Dr. Lakmi Hewage and Dr. Piyumi Gajanayaka helped with the blood donation by examining donors and coordinating them. Two wheelchairs, two walkers, and some medical equipment were donated to the Elpitiya hospital, 2 wheelchairs and some medical equipment to the Imaduwa hospital, one wheelchair to Magalle Ayurvedic hospital, and one wheelchair and one walker to Indipalegoda Ayurvedic hospital were donated. The rest of the wheelchairs, walkers, and toilet seats were distributed to individuals.
This function was held on June 12, 2011 at the Sri Visuddharama Temple of Pitigala in the Galle District. 20 used wheelchairs were donated to OSDASA by Ottawa-based organisation, “Wheelchairs for Sri Lanka.”
A team of medical staff from the blood bank of Karapitiya hospital participated. In the function, 57 people donated blood.
